The Yoda costume is a favorite for young and old alike.
It can be great for a Star Wars themed party where there will be young children present, as babies make very cute Yodas. You can even buy Yoda costumes for dogs!
Let’s take a look at the most important elements of Yoda’s appearance, and a few of his famous lines from throughout the Star Wars films.
Anyone who has ever seen a Star Wars film would have a hard time forgetting what Yoda looks like. He’s small and green, with pointy ears and three fingers on each hand. But there are also some subtle details to Yoda’s look that may interest the more intense Star Wars fans.
A decent Yoda mask should have some gray hair attached to it, and of course Yoda’s big pointy ears. You also want to get a mask which is just the right shade of green – Yoda’s skin is a fairly dark green, and he has a lot of wrinkles.
Yoda’s robes are fairly simple. They consist of a dark brown jumpsuit underneath, with a lighter brown robe on the outside. And of course, don’t forget Yoda’s green lightsaber.
Adult Yoda costumes
Wouldn’t it be fun if you could have a Mom or Dad Yoda, along with a baby Yoda?
Most adult Yoda costumes come with a mask that covers the whole head. This helps to get the shape right, as Yoda’s head is rounder and wider than a typical human. Good masks should come with Yoda’s distinctive ears and wisps of hair attached.
You can buy the mask and robes in combination together, or buy high-detail parts of a costume separately, such as a highly realistic Yoda mask combined with latex Yoda hands that are worn as gloves.
If you don’t like the thought of wearing a mask, you can settle for green paint. Make sure to paint some wrinkles onto your skin as well.
Yoda costumes for Children – and dogs!
As mentioned above, babies can make excellent Yoda’s at a party because of the small size of this master Jedi.
Costumes for infants often don’t have full face masks as these can make breathing difficult.
Instead you will often find costumes for younger kids have green hoods with pointy ears attached, leaving the child’s face exposed.
There are also Yoda dog costumes available. The costume is worn by the dog like a shirt, with a mock body with arms and legs sewn on the front. When your dog sits, it looks as if a little Yoda is standing in front of you. Also included is a little green hat with pointy ears that you can tuck your dog’s ears inside.
Here are some of Yoda’s most famous lines, for those who want to really get into character:
“Try not. Do, or do not. There is no try.”
“Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”
Luke Skywalker: “I can’t believe it!”
Yoda: “That is why you fail.”
It can also be fun to talk like Yoda! Here are some examples I have made up!
“Another piece of cake I would like”
“Your costume wonderful it is”
“To be here glad am I”
“This party for centuries will be remembered”
… well, I am no expert in Yoda grammar! Have fun wearing your Yoda costumes!
